Director of Lviv International State Airport Romanovska has ties to Russia

The case in briefRESISTANCE MEDIA

Tetiana Romanovska, head of Lviv State International Airport, has ties to Russia. In our view, it is a very strange situation when the head of a state-owned and in some respects even strategic enterprise has, at the very least, a dubious biography.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a post by lawyer and activist Yuriy Romanchuk on Facebook.

Back in 2014, Tetiana Romanovska officially worked in Russia on preparations for the Olympic Games in Russian Sochi. According to open sources, from 17 September 2013 to 31 March 2014 she held a senior position in a structure subordinate to the Russian government.

After the start of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, Romanovska returned to Lviv, but gave no public explanation of her involvement in preparing the Russian Olympics.

At least four Russian phone numbers are registered to Tetiana Romanovska, one of which was used for a profile on VKontakte, a social network blocked in Ukraine.

Even a superficial look at Romanovska's Facebook accounts easily reveals dozens of contacts with Russian citizens. Most of Romanovska's friends are people linked to Russian state structures and large state companies.

At least 6 of Tetiana Romanovska's "friends" from Sochi are people who worked in the city administration or the Olympic organising committee. She also has 12 "friends" from Moscow, including executives of companies linked to the Russian state sector - Sberbank, Aeroflot, utilities and IT contractors. In addition, according to open sources, the head of Lviv airport has contacts with residents of Belgorod, Khabarovsk, Krasnodar and Minsk

Some of these people worked in the security sector, digital identification, Russian cross-border projects, or were involved in projects under the auspices of the Russian government.

Public figure, activist and volunteer Ivan Sprynskyi, head of the NGO "RESISTANCE" office in the United Kingdom, believes that such contacts pose a potential risk for the head of Lviv airport in wartime.

Tetiana Romanovska has repeatedly featured in administrative proceedings. Among them are case No. 462/3968/19 on failure to properly protect state secrets and case No. 462/8047/19 on violation of labour law. Both were closed because the time limits expired, but the court rulings recorded problematic issues. It is strange that an official of a state enterprise who had problems with the law regarding state secrets is still in her post under martial law. Given her contacts with Russian officials, the likelihood of Romanovska leaking information to the Russians may be very high.

The strangest thing is that Romanovska's employers not only ignore the "dark" pages of her biography but also reward her financially with budget money. Even though the airport in Lviv has suspended operations since 2022, the airport director's salary has grown significantly.

In 2024 she declared UAH 1.207 million in salary, compared with 873 thousand for 2023, reports the outlet Informator.

It is also known that from 1997 to 2009 Romanovska was a co-owner of Aster LLC, a pharmaceutical company she founded together with Russian citizen Yuriy Rodionov. There are two criminal proceedings concerning this company. One concerns the falsification of medicines, the other a violation of the rules on the circulation of narcotic drugs. Both were closed because the time limits expired. Clearly, on the one hand, one can say that de facto Tetiana Romanovska has no problems with the law. However, the fact that a legal entity she founded together with a Russian citizen had problems with the law should have raised red flags when she was appointed.
