«Money for the AFU» rally to be held in Poltava: activists demand more funding for the army
War, 05.09.2025

Why are Poltava residents rallying?

The reason is a significant change in defence funding from the city budget. In 2023, Poltava City Council allocated UAH 443 million for the army's needs, while in 2024 this amount fell to UAH 171 million.

At the same time, the city's revenue grew by UAH 656 million over the year, which raises the question: why, with a bigger budget, did aid to the AFU fall almost threefold?

The activists' demands

The activists demand explanations from the acting mayor of Poltava, city council secretary Kateryna Yamshchykova. The main question is where the UAH 272 million went and why the extra money was not used to support the military.

How to join the rally?

The organisers note that anyone who wishes can join the peaceful rally. To do so, simply contact the civic organisation RESISTANCE directly.
