At a time when most soldiers are waiting for leave, have not seen their families for years and often cannot get any rest because of the difficult situation at the front, the commander of a combat unit is abroad.
As a reminder, a major scandal previously erupted around the assault units over heavy losses and soldiers' complaints about management decisions. After the media outcry there was speculation about possible personnel decisions and a review of the format of these units. However, despite the criticism, neither Oleksandr Syrskyi nor Volodymyr Zelensky abandoned their plans. Moreover, the creation of assault troops as a separate branch within the Armed Forces of Ukraine is now being considered. And most interestingly, Shyriaiev is named among the main candidates for commander of the newly created branch.
We are convinced that this information is of public importance. The families of fallen and missing soldiers of the 225th Assault Regiment have the right to know where their commander is at the hardest moments for the unit.
