But what is most striking is not the detention itself, but what came before it.
According to the investigation, no later than 2025 Kolobov moved to and settled in Kyiv, worked officially, obtained a Kyiv registration, bought a new BYD LEOPARD 3 SUV and set up his life.
At the same time he had a Russian passport, worked at enterprises in Crimea after the occupation, flew from Russia to Turkey, and his wife bought an apartment in Kyiv at the end of 2025.
In court Kolobov said he moved to the capital voluntarily and has a job, housing and social ties here.
Detaining a collaborator is the right step. But another question is no less important: how was a person who headed an occupation "ministry" after 2014, had a Russian passport and worked for years in occupied Crimea able to settle in Kyiv without hindrance, buy property and live an ordinary life?
Society has the right to an answer not only about the detention, but also about why this became possible.
