Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan said he had discussed ways to end the war in Ukraine with Russian President Putin during talks in China and with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky by phone, but the sides are «not ready yet» for a meeting of the leaders. Reuters reports this.
Erdoğan spoke to journalists on board the plane returning from China, where he had met the Russian dictator. Afterwards, he said, he called Zelensky.
However, the Turkish president said that the talks between Russian and Ukrainian officials in Istanbul in recent months had shown that the path to peace remains open.
