UAH 12 million in donations for the army laundered through a charity

The case in briefRESISTANCE MEDIA

The State Financial Monitoring Service, together with law enforcement, uncovered a fraudulent scheme organised by one of the charities registered in Ukraine. People and businesses transferred money to this organisation as charitable aid for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but the funds collected were instead transferred to counterparties linked to money mule schemes and subsequent cash-out. The total amount of the fraud uncovered exceeds 12 million hryvnias.

A separate episode concerns the import of a luxury car into Ukraine disguised as humanitarian aid; the car was later registered to a civilian whose income did not match the value of the vehicle. These facts indicate illegal use of the charitable and humanitarian aid mechanism for money laundering. Money that Ukrainians sincerely transferred to support the military may never have reached its recipients and instead ended up in the pockets of fraudsters.

Such activity not only undermines trust in the volunteer movement, it directly harms the army during a full-scale war. RESISTANCE urges citizens to be extremely careful and to donate only to verified foundations and volunteers who publish detailed financial reports. Transparency in volunteering is a matter of national security.
